1. I join Girls Soccer, although the practice still 'killing' me, I enjoy it. I'm gonna be a goalkeeper and/or defender~
2. I'm in the Spring Play, the Hound of the Baskervilles, not legit Sherlock Holmes but the parody, where the main character not boys but girls and all change the name to Shirley Holmes and Jennie Watson. Pretty ace. I'm the maid and I got lines (there will be post of it)
3. It's warmer, awesome, and all flower are blossoming and grass growing :')
4. Prom is coming for 2 WEEKS, it's in April 14th and I will be so crazy like animal because I'm a totally different and became a super crazy person if I'm in a dance (example: Homecoming and Cast Party)
5. I'm pretty sure, I will love Spring, for heavens sake, it will be as fun as Fall. Springa nd Fall are officially my favorite season :D

Di post ini, gue bakal membahas bagaimana enak dan gak enaknya tinggal di countryside selama gue di Amerika. Foto di atas diambil waktu Summer (dan waktu rambut gue masih panjang), waktu gue kurang lebih baru sebulan di sini, dan di belakang adalah frontyard host house gue, batasnya cuma sampe 5 pohon cemara itu, sisanya peternakan tetangga hehehe.

1. Pemandangan asri setiap hari
Nih gue kan asalnya dari Jakarta nih, yang namanya pemandangan kayak gini kan jaraaaaaaaang banget gue dapetin setiap hari, eventhough gue tinggalnya di Depok dan kanan-kiri rumah gue, tapi scenenya beda banget, kerasa banget desanya karena ada peternakan dan lahan terbuka yang kalo di Indonesia cuma bisa ditemukan di Papua *ngaco* Setiap malam juga gak ada kata nggak bisa liat bintang kayak di Jakarta, di sini tiap malam bintang bertabur bagaikan ketombe di kaus hitam*euw* Lalu di sore hari bisa jalan-jalan sama anjing deh~

It is sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo relaxing! First impression gue di sini adalah, mungkin tempat ini adalah tempat paling pas di dunia untuk orang-orang retire dan hidup tua bersama keluarga :3 juga, temukan burung-burung legendaris yang anda hanya bisa temukan di Amerika Utara, seperti Cardinal, Blue Jays even Pheasant! Jangan ditembak, tapi difoto saja, itu akan sangat membantu siklus kehidupan, oh iya kalo lihat kalkun mungkin halal untuk di tembak dan di goreng.
4. Ini lahan gue!
Most of countryside people seenggaknya punya 1 hektar lahan (3 acres), buat rumah dan sisanya terserah, biasanya sih buat ladang atau gardening, enaknya tuh karena ada lahan terbuka kalo summer, bisa guling-guling di padang rumput, bisa camping di rumah sendiri, kalo winter bisa tidur-tidur-tiduran di salju, dan juga gak dempet-dempetan tanah sama tetangga sebelah~

Bukan, bukan masalah graval road atau bagaimana, tapi kalo tinggal di countryside, nggak bakal ada warung deket rumah ataupun pusat entertainment lainnya kayak di town, nih kayak di kota sekolah gue, Van Horne, atau kota domisili gue, Norway, di pusat kotanya tuh pasti ada mini market, perpustakaan, restoran dan lain-lain, nah yang begini susah di cari di countryside apalagi kalo lo gak bisa nyetir.

Kalo udah melakukan hal-hal diatas di poin 4, terus karena gak ada akses ke kota tanpa jalan kaki, lo bakal meras bosan, lalu jadi couch potato nonton TV dari jam 7 pagi sampe 9 malem

Recently, gue baca buku dari motivator multi bahasa yang dateng ke sekolah gue (dan orang itu pernah ke Jakarta dan Cilacap) dan gue dapet buku motivasi gratis dari dia, dan ada satu artikel yang nyangkut banget di gue:

Seminggu setelah Touch of Class, show choir sekolah gue ngehadirin invitasi ke Waconia High School, Minnesota. Yang beda dari trip sebelumnya, Minnesota kita bakal stay 3 hari 2 malam, nginep di hotel keren dan: ke MALL OF AMERICA. gila, mall impian semua orang, gue akhirnya ke sana men.
Cerita berawal dari hari Jumat itu gak salah 18 Februari. Kita berangkat dari sekolah jam 5 sore gitu, pake bus charter dan gue duduk sama sophomore yang namanya Robert. Sebelumnya, gue sama Yudhis udah janjian, dia mau telefon gue pas di perjalanan ke Minnesota. Di tengah jalan juga, sekitar northern Iowa gitu, gue lihat banyak banget turbin buat pembangkit listrik tenaga angin, anjrit keren banget, jadi turbinnya tuh tersebar gitu di kiri-kanan highway (dan baru sadar bahwa gue gak ngambil foto kerennya gitu gara-gara di bis). Sebelum sampai di Clear Lake buat makan, Yudhis akhirnya nelfon. Temen-temen gue ngejek gitu gue ngomong bahasa Indonesia, sampe pas gue makan di McDonalds aja gue masih ditease hahaha gak papa lah mereka kan teman-teman saya :3
Hotel kita keren banget, namanya DoubleTree by Hilton gitu di Minneapolis South, sepertinya ada beberapa orang Indonesia yang kerja di sono tapi gak berani gue tegor gak tau kenapa hehe. Kita berenang dan berenang dan berenang setelah sampai di hotel, and I swim like a beauty beast :p
Hari Sabtu, tanggal 19 Februari. We're heading to Waconia pagi-pagi sekali, kalo gak salah jam 7 pagi gitu. Sekolahnya lumayan gede, dan seru banget. Jadi seperti biasa kita dapet 2 room satu buat Jubilation dan satu buat Celebration (baca post sebelom ini kalo gak ngerti apa itu). Nama-nama anggota crew y dihias-hias ada di ruang Jubilation, pas gue liat nama gue ada tulisan gini dibelakang kertasnya: "I tried to write your name for 3 times, good luck :)"
Pas Jubilation, ada foto di atas, gue kan crew nih, gue sebenernya harus nari seperti sebelumnya, tapi emang dasar sial, gue gak bawa tuh dress, jadi gue bantu ngangkat-ngangkat deh, terus pake trombone-nya Cole, gue main-main sebelum penampilan dan gue gagal mencoba memainkan trombone itu, gue memang payah.
Beberapa jam setelah Jubilation, Celeberation tampil sangat stunning, sangat stunning, sehingga mereka mendapatkan tempat di final, dan kita sangat excited, sebab ini adalah final pertama kita loh aaaaa~ Result: 3rd Runner-up (alias rank 4 out of 6 lumayan kali, Juara Harapan 1). Pulang-pulang, kita tepar jam 12:30 AM
Minggu, 20 Februari 2012, salah satu hari bersejarah dan menyenangkan dalam hidup saya: am not lie! Pagi-pagi sekali, sekitar 7 pagi, gue JB-JB temen dan guru yang mau ke gereja karena gue pengen tau gimana rasanya misa, gue udah pernah ikut misa katolik waktu natal dan sama ex-coordinator gue, jadi gue pengen nyoba misa sama kristen Lutheran deh, beda banget atmosfirnya, gerejanya super gede dan fancy. Gue baru ngeh juga kalo lagu "Kulihat ibu pertiwi sedang bersusah hati..." itu lagu gereja woy.
Berangkat 10 pagi, kita c'mon ke Mall of America di Bloomington. 10 menit ke selatan dari hotel. GUE SANGAT EXCITED dan lagi gue kira kita bakal pulang jam 2 apa jam 3 sore gitu kan, ternyata jam 5 sore harus udah balik ke bus, gila itu kan lama banget, 6 jam men!
Grup gue awalnya terdiri dari Cole, Evan, Kenzie, Kaitlyn. Kita main ke toko cewek, macam Garage dan other dept. store fashion kinda gitu karena Kenzie dan Kaitlyn dan saya kan cewek, jadi pengen liat-liat, sementara Cole dan Evan sabar banget nungguin di luar toko. Tapi lama-lama saya bosan dengan hal cewek begitu, akhirnya saya dan cowok-cowok tersebut jalan ke Starbucks terus minum kopi dulu deh hehe. Lalu, ketika cewek-cewek mampir ke toko baju cewek lagi, gue dan cowok-cowok malah ke Lego store buat liat-liat mainan, dari Lego store, kita bisa liat Nickelodeon Universe, itu keren abis, beneran kayak Dufan tapi indoor, Mall of Indonesia gak ada apa-apanya deh.
Terus tiba-tiba Evan misah gitu ke grup lain, akhirnya gue, Cole, Kenzie dan Kaitlyn jalan ke H&M, yang gue found out koleksinya high fashion abis dan affordable!! Gue dapet satu outerwear yang harganya $18 terus ke Urban Outfitters: the best store ever!!! AAAAAA!! Gue dapet sepatu super keren, di label harganya $20 tapi pas gue check out, tiba-tiba si kasir ganteng bilang: "Whoop, it's a discount, now your shoes is just 6.99!" terus gue melongo, terus gue bilang, "Am I dreaming?" *true story*
Waktunya makan siang, gue digiring ke Noodles Company. Pas nyampe di sana, penuh! Tapiiii yang bikin segar adalah ketika lihat menu ada tulisan: Indonesian Peanut Saute! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!! terus gue freak out. Bangga banget pokoknya di amrik ada tulisan Indonesia di menu restorannya dan itu bukan restoran Indonesia. Tapi gue malah milih Bangkok Curry, yang rasanya mengingatkan saya pada Indomie rasa Kari, serius.

Hai, balik lagi gue. Kali ini gue akan cerita tentang invitational show choir sekolah gue. You know Glee right? nah, sekolah gue juga punya macam Glee begitu, tapi nationally kita mengenalnya dengan Show Choir, definition (by myself): choir and band with costumes, dances, and sometimes bring a certain theme to be performed in front of people.
Invitational show choir gue berjudul : A Touch of Class, dan tahun ini adalah tahun ke 17 kita menggelarnya. Sementara di sekolah gue ada 2 show choir, prep dan varsity/utama, yang prep namanya Jubilation, Inc. umurnya sekitar 19 tahun dan varsity namanya Celebration Co. yang sepertinya sudah 27 tahun, show choir Benton emang yang paling bagus di Benton county (because I never heard another HS in our county have show choir)

Keren mampus, gym disulap jadi convention center!!
Mengingat saya adalah show choir crew buat both Benton Show Choirs (yah titelnya sih keren: crew tapi tugas kita ngangkat-ngangkat barang di backstage, ngurusin baju singers dan sebagainya tapi tugas gue agak lebih 'terhormat': taking photos of the singers tapi gak dari backstage) oke lanjut, saya harus jadi panitia buat A Touch of Class. kurang lebih, dua minggu sebelum TOC, temen gue yang bernama Cole mengajak saya untuk ngehost room bareng, hosting room adalah salah satu pekerjaan yang agak ringan apabila kita dapat sekolah yang asik dan kooperatif dan nice, jadi intinya kita ngedekorasi ruangan buat sekolah yang kita undang buat lomba put materials dan lain-lain.
Gue nge-host room bareng Cole dan juga Evan. Sehari sebelum hari-H, kita ada hari khusus buat set-up dan pas banget pas sekolah libur karena ada hari development buat guru, seharian kita di ruang ICN (ruang yg diassign buat kita) ngedekor, tema ruangan kita Beach and Winter gitu, jadi kontras antara hangat sama dingin. Sarah, host sister gue juga ngebantuin dekor, pacarnya Evan yang namanya Ashley juga ikut bantu. Waktu setting, kakaknya Cole yang namanya Ian juga ikut meramaikan mendekor hari itu. Dan yang 'terpenting' adalah: hari itu gue meluruskan rambut, mengapa? karena saya ditantang oleh teman-teman saya untuk ngelurusin rambut keriting saya nan eksotis, entah kenapa saya menerima tantangan itu aaaaaaaaaa, tak apa lah, saya tetap gorgeous :)

Oh iya, di Hari H, kita ngehost Mount Pleaseant High School, dari Iowa juga tapi sekitar dua jam ke selatan. Anaknya asik-asik, kita malah kenalan sama a couple of students gitu. Terusnya, gue hari itu tampil di Jubilation, karena gue harus nari di satu lagu bersama 4 teman lain, dan jugaaaaaa gue karaoke nyanyi lagu Fireworks-nya Katy Perry dan it sounds awful, tapi temen-temen gue ngedukung aja tuh, katanya gue asik, si Cole aja sampe ngevideoin gue dan gue sebel karena gue gak mau divideoin, dan dia 'ngancem' kalo videonya mau dikasih ke nyokap gue di Indonesia via Facebook, sialan hahahaha. Hari itu gue pake rok batik yang gue sulap jadi dress dan luaran kebaya encim, meng-Indonesia-kan diri sendiri di tengah bule-bule ini.
Pada akhirnya, sekolah yang kita host hari itu cuma dapet posisi 6.
Pada akhirnya, juara umum Touch of Class dateng dari Lincoln Southwest High School dari Nebraska, emang sih mereka keren tapi gue lebih suka Cedar Rapids Prairie gimana dong, jagoan gue itu cuma dapet 3rd Runner-up.
Konklusinya: Gue cinta hari itu, gue cinta show choir, gue cinta teman-teman gue dan gue cinta sekolah gue di sini :')

The first tactic that worked was deployed last month.
Grapefruit-sized concrete balls were suspended on chains from a frame that looks like a soccer goal. "Rail surfers," realising they could be knocked in the head or even killed, quickly called it quits.
The concrete balls can only be suspended over non-electric tracks, but no rail-surfing deaths have occurred where they are in place.
Buoyed by that success, railway officials decided to try the brooms as well.
They'll be set up along the line linking the capital, Jakarta, and the West Java town of Bogor.
Sujadi, who didn't disclose the ingredients of the smelly goop, said he was unaffected by criticism for all the strange and strict security measures.
"Some people say its inhumane, but that's fine," he said. "Because letting them ride on the roofs is even more inhumane."
Hundreds have clamored to the roofs in the past because they want to escape overcrowded carriages, can't afford the price of a ticket, or, simply, for fun.
But dozens are killed or injured every year, falling off the train or being electrocuted by the power lines above.
I'm serious, I can't say anything but "I see this everyday mom, and it's usually like this in rush hour and in the morning," than I can't give any comments.
Gosh, I'm embarrassed, this is one of our problem in Jakarta and the metro area, but people just being ignorant and selfish, even about their own safety (that also can make other people's safety endangered too). It's not my capacity to fix it though, I'm not a transportation nor metropolitan expert, but I always try to shout this problem, for example via this 'train saga' thing.
